2 Project Assistants

Raising The Village (RTV) is an international development organisation dedicated to eradicating ultra-poverty in Sub-Saharan Africa. With a team of over 350 professionals across Uganda, Rwanda, DRC, and Tanzania, RTV uses innovative, data-driven approaches to lift communities out of extreme poverty. They are now recruiting two Project Assistants to support implementation activities in Isingiro District, working under the direct supervision of a Project Officer. This role involves significant field travel — approximately 80% — and requires fluency in Runyankole, Luganda, or Kinyarwanda.

Key Responsibilities

• Participate in project design review meetings with partner villages and provide feedback to update designs and budgets before implementation
• Coordinate and co-facilitate community training sessions covering financial literacy, behaviour change, water and sanitation, village savings and loan associations, agriculture, livestock management, and health outreaches
• Implement RTV’s project methodologies with the goal of increasing household incomes and reducing extreme poverty
• Develop and submit procurement lists for goods and services required during implementation
• Verify inputs and goods prior to distribution to communities
• Conduct follow-up visits to community groups and households to ensure project compliance and continuity
• Identify risks and issues in the field and recommend practical mitigation measures
• Hold regular meetings with community leadership and members to review project performance and perceptions
• Develop and manage work plans and submit weekly field reports
• Provide support for donor reporting and proposal writing as required
• Attend weekly staff and cluster team meetings and provide regular financial accountabilities to the Project Manager
• Capture and share photographs for the organisation’s data repository
• Provide feedback and recommendations to improve RTV’s programming and methodologies

Requirements

• University degree in Community Development, Project Management, Development Studies, Social Work, Social Administration, or a related field
• Minimum of two years of practical experience in community development, project facilitation, or a related area
• Strong facilitation and training skills, with the ability to engage community members effectively
• Excellent verbal and written communication skills in English and fluency in at least one local language (Runyankole, Luganda, or Kinyarwanda)
• Proficiency in Microsoft Word and Excel
• Sound understanding of community-based development principles
• Strong work ethic, adaptability, and the ability to build relationships with community members and colleagues
• Ability to work independently and as part of a team in a fast-paced field environment
• Physically fit and able to hike across varied terrain; able to travel approximately 80% of the time
