Asset Care Technician

Uganda Breweries Limited (UBL), a Diageo company, is a leading manufacturer of beer and ready-to-drink (RTD) beverages in Uganda. UBL is seeking an Asset Care Technician to join its packaging operations team in Kampala, where you will be responsible for operating, maintaining, and optimising plant equipment to maximise reliability, availability, and production quality.

Key Responsibilities

• Interpret and support the implementation of the shift production plan, optimising use of production resources.
• Measure, record, and analyse production performance data, initiating corrective action for unfavourable trends.
• Complete both scheduled and breakdown maintenance tasks in line with operational standards.
• Manage SAP Computerised Maintenance Management System (CMMS) tasks, including notifications and work orders.
• Apply structured problem-solving techniques (5Why, DMAIC, RCPS) to identify and address root causes of equipment failures.
• Conduct machine inspections (TEBWA) and manage downtime KPIs including MTTR and MTBF.
• Develop One-Point Lessons (OPLs) and Standard Operating Procedures (SOPs) for assigned equipment.
• Conduct Reliability-Centred Maintenance (RCM) and Failure Mode and Effects Criticality Analysis (FMECA).
• Supervise and coach Technical Operators (TOs) and validate spares, restocking, and inventory control.
• Implement Lock-Out/Tag-Out (LOTO) procedures and maintain 5S and hygiene standards in the work area.
• Raise and close Safety Incident Report and Corrective Action (SIRCS) submissions.

Requirements

• Diploma in Mechanical Engineering.
• At least one (1) year of experience working shifts in an FMCG production environment.
• Working knowledge of SAP as a Computerised Maintenance Management System (CMMS).
• Understanding of machine functions, planned maintenance, and basic lubrication.
• Knowledge of process control and operational excellence techniques.
• Familiarity with quality, health, safety, and environmental risk standards.
