Associate Manager – Risk & Compliance

Majid Al Futtaim (MAF) Retail is a leading regional retail operator with a presence spanning 27 years and more than 45,000 employees across its group. At its Uganda Head Office in Kampala, MAF Retail is looking for an Associate Manager to join the Risk and Compliance function. In this role you will work closely with the Risk and Compliance Manager to assess business operations, limit loss exposure, and drive a culture of integrity throughout the organisation.

Key Responsibilities

• Support the Risk and Compliance Manager in designing and rolling out risk and compliance initiatives across the business.
• Analyse retail operational data and contribute to the development of action plans that reduce losses.
• Implement and oversee the use of an integrity hotline, ensuring it operates effectively within the business.
• Take part in investigations involving fraud, employee theft, ethical breaches, corruption, and violations of compliance policies, and recommend appropriate resolutions.
• Identify emerging operational risks and help formulate strategies to address them proactively.
• Analyse risk assessment findings and compile management-ready reports and presentations.
• Assist in reviewing and updating internal risk and compliance policies and procedures.
• Communicate updated policies and procedures to relevant staff to reduce exposure to risk.

Requirements

• Bachelor’s degree in Criminology, Security Management, Risk Management, or a related discipline.
• At least three years of experience in a comparable risk or compliance role.
• Hands-on background in Crisis Management, Risk Management, and Compliance — this is essential.
• Clear, confident business communication and presentation skills.
• Strong analytical and decision-making capabilities.
• Effective team management and leadership skills.
