Location: Kampala, Uganda. Mobilized to Albert Lake, construction sites, or other cities if required.

Primary Function

Support the Head of Production Department in providing strategic and operational leadership for safe, reliable, compliant and cost-effective production operations, field development execution, production optimization, asset integrity, emergency preparedness and national talent development as the Company transitions into full operations.

Responsibilities

  • Assist the Head of Production Department in planning, executing and optimizing production operations to achieve approved field development plans, production targets, reservoir management objectives and facility performance standards.
  • Coordinate daily production operations, field performance reviews, production reporting, operational issue resolution and follow-up of key actions across Production, Subsurface, Drilling, Engineering, QHSE, Commercial, Procurement and Finance teams.
  • Support the preparation, defense and execution of annual work programs, production plans and CAPEX/OPEX budgets, including monitoring of cost performance, contract utilization, production efficiency and cost optimization initiatives.
  • Ensure production, development and field operation activities under the department comply with applicable laws, petroleum regulations, approved standards, permits, internal procedures, partner commitments and regulatory reporting requirements.
  • Oversee production readiness, commissioning support, start-up preparation, operations reliability, maintenance coordination, asset integrity follow-up and emergency response preparedness to support safe and uninterrupted operations.
  • Maintain effective working interfaces with Government authorities, regulators, Joint Venture partners, contractors and internal stakeholders on operational performance, approvals, reporting, technical matters and issue resolution.
  • Monitor significant field events, production deviations, incidents and operational risks, escalate material matters to the Head of Department and support implementation of corrective and preventive actions.
  • Support nationalization, knowledge transfer and capability development through structured coaching, mentoring, training plans, succession planning and development of national engineers, supervisors and specialists.
  • Promote continuous improvement, digitalization and adoption of fit-for-purpose technologies to improve production efficiency, safety performance, data quality, environmental performance and long-term asset value.

Requirements

  • Bachelor's degree in Petroleum Engineering, Chemical Engineering, Mechanical Engineering, Electrical Engineering, Automation, Production Operations or other relevant Oil & Gas discipline.
  • A postgraduate qualification is an added advantage.
  • At least 10 years' experience in the Oil & Gas industry, including at least 5 years in field/on-site production operations and demonstrated experience leading multidisciplinary technical or operations teams.

Knowledge

  • Extensive knowledge of field development, production operations, reservoir management, production engineering, surface facilities, HSE management, petroleum laws/regulations, economic analysis and international oilfield practices.
