Dispenser – Lira

C-Care is a leading healthcare provider with facilities in Uganda, Mauritius, and Madagascar, committed to excellence and compassion in patient care. The organisation is recruiting a Dispenser for its Lira branch, where you will be responsible for ensuring that patients receive accurately prepared and correctly labelled medications, alongside clear counselling to support treatment adherence.

Key Responsibilities

• Prepare, package, label, and dispense drugs against validated prescriptions, following national standards and C-Care procedures
• Receive and evaluate prescriptions from patients and hospital staff against approved departmental protocols
• Verify that dispensed medicines match prescriptions and consult the prescribing doctor whenever there is any doubt about dosage or suitability
• Counsel patients on their medications and relay relevant treatment information to other team members
• Monitor expiry dates and carry out regular stock checks to ensure adequate supply of drugs and medical sundries across all ward areas
• Store refrigerated medications at the correct temperature and record fridge temperatures regularly
• Maintain accurate data entries and documentation using stock cards and other approved systems
• Check for contraindications and harmful drug interactions, including for pregnant patients
• Dispose of expired or unused materials in line with C-Care standard operating procedures
• Participate in unit audits and quality improvement activities

Requirements

• Diploma in Pharmacy from a recognised institution
• Current registration with the Uganda Allied Health Professionals Council
• At least one year of experience in a dispensing role
• Excellent communication and interpersonal skills with empathy for patients
• Strong stock management and data documentation abilities
