Raising The Village (RTV) is a fast-growing international development organisation committed to ending ultra-poverty in Sub-Saharan Africa. RTV is looking for a Finance Assistant based in Kampala to support accurate bookkeeping, financial reporting, and budget execution across assigned field districts. The role includes up to 30% travel to field offices and reports to the Finance Officer.
Key Responsibilities
- Maintain and organise all financial documents — including cash advances, requests, and receipts — keeping records audit-ready at all times.
- Update finance systems with timely, accurate data and participate in monthly Sage project reconciliations.
- Support budgeting, budget tracking, and financial policy implementation; serve as finance business partner to assigned field offices.
- Reconcile staff advances, petty cash, and project-specific accounts monthly; manage weekly staff advance activity.
- Post journal entries, manage fuel accountability records, and maintain government official payment documentation.
- Receive, log, and verify invoices prior to entry; process invoices through the procurement module and resolve vendor disputes.
- Review and reconcile project activity accountability, investigating and closing out discrepancies promptly.
- Review mobile money transactions for compliance; initiate payments via Beyonic by verifying beneficiaries and flagging variances.
- Report non-compliant financial practices to the Senior Finance Officer or Finance and Administration Manager.
- Recommend process improvements and provide financial guidance to staff on adherence to procedures.

- Bachelor’s degree in Accounting, Accounting and Finance, Business Administration (Accounting), or an equivalent qualification.
- Minimum of 2 years’ professional experience in accounting, bookkeeping, finance management, or audit.
- Practical experience with mobile money payment platforms is essential.
- Familiarity with accounting software such as Sage or a comparable system is an advantage.
- Partial or full CPA/ACCA qualification is an advantage.
- Strong numerical and Excel skills, knowledge of accounting standards and data privacy principles.
- High integrity, good time management, and willingness to travel up to 30% to field locations.
