True North Consult Ltd is hiring a Heavy Goods Trucks Driver based on Ntinda Road, Kampala, to move containerised cargo safely and on schedule between designated locations.
Key Responsibilities
- Transport containerised cargo to and from designated locations
- Load, unload, handle and stack cargo safely, and make sure it is properly secured in transit
- Follow assigned routes and schedules, and obey traffic laws and safety regulations
- Keep accurate cargo and delivery records
- Inspect and maintain the vehicle and equipment, and report faults or malfunctions immediately
- Treat colleagues and clients professionally and courteously, and follow company policies
Requirements
- Ordinary Certificate of Education (S4)
- Valid commercial driving licence (CE)
- About 3 years of relevant experience
- Experience operating heavy trucks such as 45 ft and 50 ft container trucks, flatbeds, reefers and chassis
- Knowledge of weight distribution, vehicle maintenance and road safety
- Ability to lift and move heavy objects (50-100 lbs), sit and drive for long periods, and work in different weather
- Good vision, hearing and alertness; ability to use GPS and maps
- Formal knowledge of repairing and maintaining lifting equipment and heavy machines is an added advantage
