Medical Officer – Lubowa

C-Care is a multi-country healthcare organisation operating premium medical facilities in Uganda, Mauritius, and Madagascar. The organisation is inviting applications for a part-time Medical Officer at its Lubowa facility. In this role, you will provide comprehensive clinical care to patients, ensuring diagnoses and treatment plans are thorough, accurate, and delivered in line with C-Care protocols.

Key Responsibilities

• Perform comprehensive patient assessments, including detailed history-taking, physical examination, and appropriate investigations such as laboratory tests and imaging
• Manage outpatient and ward patients effectively, ensuring timely review and follow-up on all test results and referrals
• Provide OPD cover and regularly check patient queues to ensure no one is kept waiting unnecessarily
• Liaise with specialist consultants for appropriate patient management and maintain clear, written records of all clinical decisions
• Supervise and guide junior clinical staff on patient handling, triage, and clinical procedures
• Conduct thorough ward rounds and prepare comprehensive handover reports for the next Medical Officer on shift
• Stay current with medical best practices through regular CME attendance and self-directed reading
• Understand and apply the facility’s policies on health scheme coverage and accurately complete insurance claim forms
• Review ambulance cases as required to ensure continuity of care for patients in transit

Requirements

• A medical degree (MBChB or equivalent) from a recognised and reputable institution
• Valid Annual Practicing Licence and Registration Certificate
• Current registration with the Uganda Medical and Dental Practitioners’ Council, or eligibility for registration
• At least one year of post-internship clinical experience
