WWF Uganda Country Office (UCO) is an independent conservation organisation working to protect natural habitats, halt wildlife extinction, and make production and consumption more sustainable. WWF UCO is looking for a Monitoring and Evaluation Officer to be based in Kasese, providing technical M&E support to its Forestry, Freshwater, and Wildlife conservation projects in the region.

Key Responsibilities

  • Develop and implement project-specific monitoring and evaluation frameworks for assigned conservation programmes.
  • Coordinate M&E activities in accordance with WWF Network standards, UCO M&E strategy, and project implementation plans.
  • Collate, analyse, and consolidate monitoring data, and prepare regular project progress reports using the established tools.
  • Undertake periodic field monitoring visits and stakeholder consultations to track project performance.
  • Monitor and report M&E challenges and gaps, and inform adaptive management decisions.
  • Lead implementation of Environmental Safeguards and Social Framework (ESSF) measures at the field level.
  • Support field-level digital data collection and assist partners in the timely analysis of project data.
  • Conduct data quality assessments for conservation projects under assigned supervision.
  • Identify M&E capacity gaps among project staff and partners and support targeted capacity-building activities.
  • Document and share lessons learned, best practices, and results from programme activities.
  • Contribute to knowledge management, adaptive learning processes, and project reporting cycles.

Requirements

  • Bachelor’s degree in Statistics, Development Studies, Economics, Public Health, Environmental Sciences, Project Management, GIS, or a related field.
  • A postgraduate diploma in Monitoring and Evaluation or Project Management is mandatory.
  • A master’s degree in a relevant field is an added advantage.
  • At least three (3) years’ experience monitoring and evaluating environmental or natural resources management projects.
  • Strong knowledge of M&E methodologies, results-based management, and the logical framework approach.
  • Proficiency in GIS tools and data analysis software including Power BI and Microsoft Excel.
  • Excellent technical report writing skills and strong written and spoken English.
  • Experience working in an NGO or international organisation context is an advantage.
