Planning Officer

Raising The Village (RTV) is an international development organization on a mission to eradicate ultra-poverty in Sub-Saharan Africa. With programs active in Uganda, Rwanda, DRC, and Tanzania, RTV has positively impacted more than one million lives since 2012. The organization is looking for a Planning Officer based in Mbarara to support regional growth strategies and coordinate program expansion. The role involves approximately 60% travel to field locations.

Key Responsibilities

• Support the Senior Officer, Planning in developing and executing strategic expansion plans for organizational programs
• Help identify new opportunities for scaling existing interventions and reaching additional communities
• Participate in feasibility assessments for potential new program locations to ensure alignment with organizational goals
• Engage with country-level teams to facilitate coordinated integration of expansion activities
• Tailor expansion approaches to local contexts and community-specific needs
• Bridge communication between regional and country teams to keep expansion priorities aligned
• Track the progress of ongoing expansion initiatives and flag implementation challenges early
• Contribute to periodic reports capturing successes, lessons learned, and impact data
• Support engagement with local authorities, community partners, and other stakeholders
• Maintain thorough documentation related to expansion processes and ensure compliance with organizational policies and donor requirements

Requirements

• A university degree in Development Economics, Public Policy, Social Sciences, Statistics, or a related field
• At least 2–3 years of experience in program planning, expansion coordination, or a similar role within the development sector
• Familiarity with community development approaches, scaling strategies, and stakeholder engagement
• Experience working with multi-country or regional teams is an added advantage
• Strong organizational, analytical, and coordination skills
• Proficiency in Microsoft Office Suite and project management tools such as Power BI
