Recoveries Officers

Platinum Credit (U) Ltd, a leading regional microfinance institution, is looking for five Recoveries Officers to join its collections team at the Head Office in Kampala. In this role you will manage defaulted credit facilities with the goal of minimizing financial loss through proactive client engagement and structured recovery efforts. The successful candidates will be disciplined, persuasive, and comfortable working in the field.

Key Responsibilities

• Work toward and consistently meet set portfolio recovery targets
• Negotiate realistic and sustainable repayment plans and ensure clients adhere to agreed schedules
• Conduct field visits to clients’ homes and workplaces, serve demand letters, and persuade timely repayment
• Update client accounts with collected feedback and upload all relevant documentation into the system
• Carry out skip tracing activities to locate hard-to-reach clients
• Evaluate and process refinancing options for payroll-based clients within approved credit policies

Requirements

• A degree in a relevant field
• Must be between 22 and 33 years of age
• At least 1 year of experience in collections, debt recovery, or a similar role—preferably within a financial institution
• Computer literate with basic system skills
• Strong numerical and analytical skills
• Excellent communication and interpersonal skills
• Ability to work effectively under pressure
