Shift Supervisor

Uganda Electricity Transmission Company Limited (UETCL) is a government-owned public utility responsible for bulk power transmission, system operations, and high-voltage grid management in Uganda. With a vision to become Eastern Africa’s leading electricity transmission company, UETCL is hiring five Shift Supervisors for its National Control Centre, where they will provide leadership and real-time operational support to shift teams.

Key Responsibilities

• Supervise power system controllers on duty, providing guidance and operational leadership throughout each shift.
• Monitor and support controllers in managing system frequency and voltage within required parameters.
• Analyse system incidents as they occur and provide informed decision support to the control team.
• Conduct real-time system analysis before authorising shutdowns or planned outages.
• Monitor power exchanges to confirm delivery of scheduled Day-Ahead Market (DAM) trade volumes, and make intra-day market decisions based on available generation and demand in real time.
• Review and verify that database records are accurate and complete at the end of each shift.
• Prepare comprehensive shift reports for management and operational records.

Requirements

• Bachelor’s degree in Electrical Engineering.
• Minimum of 2 years’ experience in power system operations.
• Experience with SCADA systems is an added advantage.
• Strong leadership and interpersonal skills.
• Solid analytical and communication abilities.
• Good report writing skills.
• Willingness and ability to work in shifts, including extended hours beyond standard working time.
