October in Showbiz: Lugogo Clash, a Tiwa Collab, a New Miss Uganda

October gave Kampala a December date war, a Nigerian superstar on a Ugandan track, a teenage Miss Uganda and a rent notice with a very big number on it. Here are the stories that defined the month, ranked by what we’ll still be talking about next year.
1. The Lugogo Standoff
Nina Roz is not moving her December 11 debut at Lugogo Hockey Grounds, even though Konshens and DJ Maphorisa land at the Cricket Oval the same night. Sqoop reports Kabako has asked Swangz to move the Jamaican’s show. Nobody has budged.
Same month, Chris Evans asked the organisers of Chameleone’s December 4 Oval show to change the date, because Evans has his own gig at Front Page Hotel that night.
And Galaxy FM says King Michael called Chameleone selfish about money. Two clashes, one feud, one December. This one has legs.
December is Kampala’s one big payday. Every clash splits the gate and leaves sponsors staring at thinner fields.
2. Baraka Gets Tiwa
Joshua Baraka dropped “Commando” featuring Tiwa Savage, the second track off his upcoming project Recess II. He produced it himself.
The timing is no accident. Discounted tickets for his Into the B’raka Land concert ran through Sunday night, right alongside the release. A Nigerian star on the single, a sale on the gate. Smart.
Tiwa Savage is one of Nigeria’s biggest voices, so the feature does what a Ugandan artist’s own hype can’t: it puts the concert in front of fans who’ve never bought a Kampala ticket. Will it sell out? That’s the next test.
3. A 19-Year-Old Gets the Crown
Masaka’s Almorie Nagayi, 19, beat 21 other finalists to win Miss Uganda 2026/27 at the Sheraton on the night of October 10.
Two weeks later she went on Galaxy TV and told viewers with questions about the pageant: “I’m just the face”, so ask the organisation. Crowned and already delegating.
V&A Sherry toasted the new queen at the finale, which tells you where the pageant’s money comes from. PML Daily says the crowd was chanting her name all night, so the public is already on her side.
4. Comedy Store Turns 10, Brings the Big Guns
Comedy Store Uganda marked a decade with a Lugogo Cricket Oval night on October 30. Galaxy FM billed it as an East African soap opera, with Diamond Platnumz, Zari and Zuchu all on the guest list.
Diamond also had a private meet and greet at Marriott Kampala lined up ahead of the show. When a comedy show books a Diamond-sized headliner, the comedy brand is now selling stadium nights.
5. Sheebah and Kasita Finally Do It
Sheebah and Karole Kasita dropped “Bukutu”, and the two arrived at Club Guvnor after 1am for the premiere. Late entrance, naturally.
Kasita says she first approached Sheebah about the song three years ago. Three years of swapping demos. Patience pays.
Then Sheebah told women to chase “kings” over men and the internet had views. It always does.
6. Alien Skin, Shs36 Million, 30 Days
Alien Skin has reportedly been given 30 days to clear Shs36 million in rent and water arrears or leave his Makindye home. MBU has the same story.
The notice is dated October 26, so the clock runs out in late November. The Fangone Forest boss has a deadline.
Pay up, pack up or produce a receipt. Those are the three options, and late November is when the landlord expects an answer. Shs36 million is a lot of Fangone merch.
7. Waragi Fills the Serena
Salvador and Dr Hillary Okello’s 2 Kings One Mic packed the Serena ballroom on October 23, with Uganda Waragi pouring and backing the show as sponsor. I&M Bank came in as banking partner.
Clean English-language comedy with two names on the poster, a hotel ballroom and sponsors queuing. That’s a template, and promoters will copy it.
Corporate comedy nights are the safest bet on the calendar: a seated crowd, a brand on the backdrop, no weather risk. Expect a lot more “Two Kings, One Mic” posters in 2027.
8. Chameleone Got Scared Into a Hit
The funniest confession of the month. Chameleone said on a social media live session that Bobi Wine’s song Bada worried him enough to go back to the studio and answer with Valu Valu.
Competition: still the best producer in Ugandan music.
9. Naija Nostalgia in Bugolobi
Ice Prince made his Ugandan debut at the Singleton Big Meeting at Thrones, and took the crowd back to Nigerian hip-hop’s golden era. Brand-curated nights keep landing foreign headliners in small rooms. Expect more.
Quick Hits That Mattered
- Bell goes upcountry. Bell Lager kicked off ObaFest in Gulu and later took the party to Mbarara with TPaul at Kakyeeka Stadium. Brands are chasing crowds outside Kampala, and the crowds are showing up.
- Apartment Life landed. The travelling party concept debuted at Motiv in Bugolobi on October 10, brought in by Ganda Vibes with Don Julio and Johnnie Walker attached.
- DJ Last Gal went solo. Her maiden concert at Guvnor Street pulled a strong turnout, says SoftPower.
- Mesach Semakula turns 50 loudly. Fellow musicians rallied behind his 50 Years of Greatness concert at a Makindye press conference, with V&A Sherry among the sponsors.
November Starts Now
Kampala Crème returns for Season Four tonight with three new faces. The Mith’s So UG Experience is November 14 at Kati Kati Grounds. And in December, Lugogo gets loud.
Hold the date, and bring a spare ticket for whoever loses the clash.
