Fik Fameica to Guild President: ‘Leave My STAGE!’ at Mak Freshers

Fik Fameica told the Makerere Guild President to get off his stage, mid-song, in front of a rain-soaked Freshers Ball. The students sided with the rapper.

It went down Saturday night at Impis Rugby Grounds. Guild President Gracious Kadondi walked on with her team and took the microphone while Fik was performing. She wanted to address the students.

“Leave my stage! I have work to do.” (Fik Fameica, per Edge)

Fik’s team and the police were soon up there too. Words flew for several minutes while the crowd chanted his name. Kadondi eventually left, and Fik picked the show back up to the kind of roar only “Siaka Siaka” can get you, per MBU.

Here’s the twist. Kadondi’s own side says she never got to speak to the students all night. The downpour reshuffled the programme and ate the speeches.

So she went for the one slot where the whole ball was watching. Bold move. Wrong crowd.

The Guild’s Minister for Culture, Mobilisation and Social Affairs, Edward Mutebi, has since put out a statement. He apologises to performers and to Guild leaders for the programme changes. Fik is tagged right there in the post.

Mutebi says several artists didn’t get enough stage time because of the rain. Nina Roz, Winnie Nwagi, Ykee Benda and Azawi were all on the bill, and none of them are the ones trending.

Social media is split, Nile Post notes. Some ask why a Guild President hijacks a live set. Others say she deserved her moment at an event the Guild helped put on.

Fik is riding a wave right now. His Kenya media tour kept him in the headlines, and critics mocked his English. Evelyn Mic and Prim Asiimwe jumped to his defence days before the ball.

Pulse Uganda also reported that Spiro named him its East Africa ambassador and handed him an electric motorcycle. A man with a fresh brand deal and a viral stage standoff? Sponsors love the first part and sweat over the second.

Headline acts get the loudest cheers and the biggest cheques. They also get the least patience for a surprise guest on stage. Fik just showed everyone which one he values.

One stage. One mic. Two people sure it was theirs. The crowd already voted.
